Shatta Wale applauds Sarkodie for ‘lashing  out’ presenters

Sarkodie has received praise from Shatta Wale for speaking candidly about the Ghanaian music industry and radio hosts in a recent interview.

Sarkodie stated in the interview that he doesn’t understand why radio hosts who have been active in the community for years would blame bands for not expanding their fan base.

It is simple for someone to sit on the radio and tell you Shatta Wale not to do this, he said. You’ve been Ghana’s radio number one for almost 20 years, so you can’t enter Choice for us or BBC. I don’t believe you have the moral authority to discuss an artist who is currently inactive in Ghana. Because me I go BBC because it is Komla Dumor wey e make I go,”

Since then, the remark has caused controversy and anger since some radio hosts believe Sarkodie was rude in what he said. Shatta Wale is supporting Sarkodie in the meanwhile.

“Hats off to Sarkodie… It’s a warning to wake up. Fire is coming and burning. Like the Terminator, I’ll be back, Shatta Wale tweeted.

During an Instagram live session later, he said “nobody should fight Sarkodie for what he has said. No one should fight him for whatever he is saying. We have some issues in our industry that need to be fixed, and Sarkodie is being honest with himself and the universe about it.

Announcing that “SM, BHIM, SARK, BLACKO, and MDK fans let’s all use this opportunity and capitalise on what sark and let’s stop all “this one is better than this”,” Shatta Wale took the opportunity to call for unity among artists and their fans. We are wasting our time, plain and simple. I support the truth.

While this was going on, some radio hosts and industry insiders dissented from Sarkodie’s remark, claiming that it was improper for the rapper to compare music and media.

According to filmmaker Socrates Safo, “moving from one sector to the other as a Ghanaian radio presenter to BBC or CNN is not graduation. Referencing the fact that the person hasn’t improved in your submission is not required by law and is not part of the system.

The usual showbiz expert on Peace FM stated that Sarkodie needs to work on his interviewing abilities because he doesn’t know what to say.
